I joined the company for my Year 10 work experience week in June 2017. I loved it so much that I applied to complete my Year 11 extended work experience placement which I completed in May 2018. I knew that I wanted to have a career in Tourism and Leisure and particularly I wanted to work for a Holiday Resort so this opportunity has been extremely beneficial as I have learnt about lots of difference departments that otherwise I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to experience.
How has your work experience helped you to progress?
During my placement at Brean Play I decided that as I was enjoying my placement so much that I wanted to work for the company. I successfully applied and have been working as part of the Brean Play team since February 2018. I continue to complete my time on work experience alongside my shifts at Play so I am continuing to learn about the company and how each department works together to be one team #TEAMBREAN. Since starting working at Brean Play I have covered most of the positions and have now completed my Party Host training and have just recently ran my first party.
What do you most like about your job?
I really enjoy my job, working with a great team of people whilst being able to work in an area that I am most interested in for my future.
What is great about working in the leisure industry?
It’s great working in the leisure industry as it is nice to see so many holiday makers and locals enjoying the facilities at Brean Play whilst enjoying the atmosphere and having fun
